[edit] Biography
Griffin graduated from the University of Michigan with a major in speech and communications, and also attended the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado where he obtained a Certified Financial Planner designation in 1989.
[edit] Author and film producer
As the President of American Media, a publishing and video production company in southern California, and as the founder and creator of the website Reality Zone, Griffin has published several books including The Creature from Jekyll Island and A World Without Cancer: The Story of Vitamin B17 as well as the video Capitalist Conspiracy.
[edit] Social activism
Griffin has served on the board of directors of the National Health Federation and the International Association of Cancer Victors and Friends. [1]. In December 1976 he founded the Cancer Cure Foundation.[2] a non-profit organization dedicated to research and education in alternative cancer therapies of which he is currently president [3].
Griffin received the Telly Award for excellence in television production.[4]
Griffin was socially significant for being one of the first public and media proponents of the now controversial natural alternative cancer therapy based on laetrile or Amygdalin, which is the subject of his book A World Without Cancer and the documentary of the same name.
[edit] The Coalition for Visible Ballots
Griffin is one of the founding coalition members of the The Coalition for Visible Ballots, a single issue group with the long-term goal to eliminate invisible ballots.
“ | We at the Coalition for Visible Ballots believe that the only way to restore fair and honest elections to our country is to set aside ALL machines, including electronic of any type, touch screen, optical scan counters--and use PAPER BALLOTS, HAND-COUNTED IN PUBLIC VIEW.[5] | ” |
To this end he co-produced the film Invisible Ballots: A Temptation for Electronic Vote Fraud.
[edit] Freedom Force International
In 2002, Griffin founded Freedom Force International, an organization with members in countries across the world. Freedom Force International has an unusual membership fee structure: there are dues-paying members and non-dues-paying members. Mr. Griffin believes that such an organization should not require members to pay dues. In order to fund operations, however, certain bonuses are awarded to members who elect to pay dues. Until recently, the minimum monthly membership due was based on one ounce of silver.
